Health care reform —
participating in the dialogue

Bookmark and Share

These days you can’t get through the day without hearing the words health care reform. Are you actually listening to the conversation? With so many terms and opinions flying around, it’s easy to tune out.

Keep in mind that this is your health care future. Understanding the basics can help you formulate an opinion and engage in the discussion.

Here are three places to read up on the issues and developments.

HealthReform.gov
Follow the current administration’s health reform initiatives. Read online reports on topics such as health disparities, the health care system and women and health care in rural America, and also find White House and Health and Human Services reports on. Read about the White House Forums on health reform, watch weekly updates and other video messages, and share your own stories and ideas.

The Kaiser Family Foundation
Are you confused about what the issues are and what each party wants from health care reform policy? The Kaiser Family Foundation is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, private foundation that focuses on major health care issues in the United States. Its health reform site breaks down this otherwise intimidating subject in a comprehensive, easy-to-understand manner. Find side-by-side comparisons of the major proposals, public opinion tracking polls, research briefs and analysis, and basic explanations of key terms and issues — or read up on the history of health reform and scan the latest Kaiser Health News headlines.

The Commonwealth Fund
The Commonwealth Fund’s health reform page breaks health reform down by topic—system reform, expanding access, payment reform and quality improvement. Read the latest reports for each or browse the Washington Health Policy Week in review, which includes selected stories from CQ HealthBeat. Listen to the featured health-reform podcast or watch related webcasts and video footage.
